Exercise Over 50

One of the most common questions I hear from patients over 50 is, “What’s the best exercise I can do?”
My answer is often simpler than they expect… walking.

You don’t need extreme workouts or complicated routines to improve your health. Consistent, low-impact movement can have a powerful effect on your heart, your weight, your blood pressure, and even your mental well-being.

As a cardiac surgeon, I’ve seen firsthand how small, sustainable habits can make a meaningful difference over time.

Start with 20–30 minutes a day. Make it part of your routine. And most importantly, stick with it.

Sometimes the simplest choices are the ones that matter most.

Dr. Raymond Singer

Dr. Singer has been in practice since 1992 and has, to date, performed over 8,456 surgeries. His practice interests include complex valve, coronary and aneurysm surgery, as well as prevention and treatment of lung cancer.
