Vietnam War Hero’s Harrowing Story

Posted with permission from the patient and his family.

This remarkable 77-year-old Vietnam veteran and war hero was shot down in a helicopter more than 50 years ago and was awarded a medal for bravery. With a strong family history of heart disease, I have had the privilege of caring for several members of his family over the years.

Recently, he underwent urgent coronary artery bypass surgery—thankfully with an excellent outcome. In this video, he courageously shares the harrowing story of his service in Vietnam and the personal health journey that ultimately led him to open-heart surgery.

It is an honor to care for those who have sacrificed so much.
