Heart Walk: You Make My Heart Sing!

After a year of the pandemic, heart disease has risen in the U.S., likely from all of us having more stress, less exercise, and of course, weight gain. Sadly, the same has happened to me. I’ve gained weight, exercised less, and the stress of fighting Covid-19 and quarantining from family and friends has been hard. So, when they say “we’re all in this together” the meaning hits home for me. I’ve lost friends and colleagues, and I’ve watched too many patients and their families suffer.

It’s time to recover. I took the vaccine and I strongly recommend it to my patients, family, and friends. But, more than the vaccine, we need to get out and exercise in the nice weather ahead and get back to fighting heart disease.

November 6, 2021 is the American Heart Association Philadelphia Heart Walk. We’re walking for our health and yours. For our parents, our children and our grandchildren. Who will you walk for? Heart disease is the No. 1 killer worldwide and stroke ranks second globally.
