I was so pleased to see Jefferson recognize my dear colleague and friend Marie Baker Mo and her remarkable lifetime of caring.
Those of us who have had the privilege of working with Marie know that her contribution to nursing and healthcare cannot simply be measured in years, titles, or accomplishments. It is measured in the countless patients she has helped, the nurses and healthcare professionals she has mentored, and the teams she has made better simply by being part of them.
I have been fortunate to work closely with Marie, and I have seen firsthand the compassion, dedication, leadership, and humanity she brings to everything she does.
She understands something that is at the heart of great healthcare: take care of your people, and together they will take extraordinary care of their patients.
Marie, I am proud to call you a colleague, but even more grateful to call you my friend. This recognition is so well deserved.
