As National Nurses Week begins Wednesday, May 6, I want to recognize the true heart of healthcare… our nurses.
Over my 34 years in medicine, one truth has remained constant, no great outcome happens alone. Behind every successful surgery, every recovery, every life saved, there is a nurse.
They are the constant presence at the bedside. The calm in moments of uncertainty. The ones who notice what others might miss, and act when it matters most.
Their clinical skill is extraordinary, but it is their compassion, resilience, and humanity that truly define them.
To the nurses I have the privilege of working alongside every day, thank you. You make all of us better, and you make a difference in every life you touch.
