Thoughts 7/26/2021

When I graduated medical school at Penn, one of my mentors, Dr. Alden Harken, told me that “there is a lot more to medicine than science.” His words influenced my career, as has the brilliance and benevolence of my many colleagues past and present. I’m sharing my inspiration here for you to enjoy and reflect.

I have come to learn 3 things after 30 years as a surgeon:

1) Listen more, talk less
2) Respond, don’t react
3) Strength comes from within.
