But the greatest honor of the evening had nothing to do with medicine. It was having my best friend, Clark Pease, there by my side.
Clark and I have been inseparable since seventh grade at Ogontz Junior High School. For 6 decades, we’ve spoken almost every single day. Through every chapter of life—personal and professional—he has been there.
I didn’t have the opportunity to thank him during the reception, but the truth is, there are no words that could fully express my gratitude.
Clark is more than a friend. He is the brother I never had.
And tonight, sharing that moment with him meant more than any award ever could.
