Patient Reading a Book Hours After Surgery

With permission from my patient to post, this remarkable man is relaxing and reading a book only hours after open-heart surgery. He underwent a double coronary artery bypass operation this morning, and needless to say, he is feeling quite well!

Conventional coronary artery bypass surgery, on-pump and via a sternotomy, remains the gold standard, and can be performed safely with early recovery and minimal postoperative pain.
