Dr. Guy, Director of Minimally Invasive & Robotic Cardiac Surgery

Below you can see a photo of Dr. T. Sloane Guy, M.D., MBA, Director of Minimally Invasive & Robotic Cardiac Surgery along with Jefferson University Hospital’s new  da Vinci X Robot:

Dr. Guy started in the Department of Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in May of 2019. The photo was taken when he demonstrated the da Vinci X Robot in the Gibbon Atrium. The robot will allow most patients to leave the hospital much earlier than with traditional open surgery.

At Jefferson, Dr. Guy’s focus is on “adult cardiac surgery with a focus on robotic mitral valve repair, robotic cardiac surgery, advanced thoracic aortic aneurysm surgery, heart failure surgery, coronary bypass, minimally invasive aortic valve replacement.”

His “singular focus for years has been developing and delivering safe, effective open heart surgery through tiny incisions so that patients can recover more quickly and get back to the lives they want to live.”

He says that playing college football was “the #1 best preparation (he) had for becoming a cardiac surgeon.”  He had even planned “to become a football coach at one time” because of his love for the game.

We are glad he decided to become a cardiac surgeon instead!
