With permission from the patient to post, this 58-year old man was passionate about going to the gym daily, but he began to notice that he had decreasing exercise tolerance, along with worsening shortness of breath and a new persistent cough. He was found to have bi-leaflet mitral valve prolapse with severe mitral valve regurgitation, requiring urgent mitral valve repair surgery.
Only a few hours after undergoing conventional sternotomy, cardiopulmonary bypass, and bi-leaflet mitral valve repair, he reports no pain and is ready to get out of bed for dinner! A wonderful result for a wonderful patient!
