Founded in 1787, the College represents one of the most historic and respected medical institutions in our nation, dedicated to advancing the science and practice of medicine, education, professionalism, and service to humanity. To be welcomed into this distinguished fellowship is truly humbling.
I was especially honored to share this memorable evening with Larry R. Kaiser, President and CEO of the College, one of the great thoracic surgeons of our era, former CEO of Temple University Health System, former Chair of Surgery at Penn, and for me personally, a longtime friend, mentor, and trusted advisor over many decades. His leadership and example have inspired generations of surgeons and physician leaders.
As I reflect on my 35-year journey in medicine, evenings like this remind me how fortunate I have been to learn from remarkable mentors, work alongside extraordinary colleagues, and care for patients who place their trust in us during the most vulnerable moments of their lives.
I am deeply grateful for this recognition and proud to join the fellowship of such an iconic institution in Philadelphia medicine.
